The Biggest, Baddest, Hardest Project EVER: Phase 3

Hands down, no doubt about it, this is the best phase by miles!  This is the fun part, the part where we get to sit back and relax and enjoy all of the hard work we accomplished. Let me just tell you, there is nothing like the feeling of looking at these floors and thinking, "Wow, we did that ourselves!" So how about some pictures? For some reason the color looks different in just about every.single.picture. Don't know why! I know you are tired of me yanking your chain so here you go!

I am in LOVE with the rustic looking quality! (Dining room walkway)

That would be the rounded fireplace that W cut around all by himself.  He has more patience than me! (To be honest I have ZERO patience anyway...) We still have to put quarter round around it to even up the edges.

This is the funky half brick wall that separate the dining room and living room.  I wanted to tear it down but we decided the repair to the wall would be to complicated!

My used new rug looks amazing in the living room.  I told you about the incredible deal I got here. Now let me tell you about how this rug gave us hel...  well you get the point.  I mentioned how bad it stunk.  I was not even kidding people, it was baaaaddd.  We tried EVERYTHING to get the smell out.  We hung it over our little arbor thing to dry out. Vacuumed it like crazy with the shop vac.  That means, down on all fours with the hose combing over every inch of the carpet.  W took it to his parents house where they sprayed it and used cleaner.  It still STUNK to high heaven!  At this point I was thinking W was going to kill me for getting this big beautiful stinky rug!  I finally called the guy who cleaned our carpets and he said he could put a deodorizer on it for $20.  So why the heck not.  Well after letting it air out for a few more days it finally was good enough to bring inside.  We got some more deodorizer spray from Lowe's and the carpet sprinkle stuff.  Let me tell you, it smells as good as new now and I couldn't be happier that I got a rug this size for a grand total of $50!!

Here is a before and after.

We are both so pleased with the outcome.  We also won't be attempting any more reno's for quite some time :)

P.S. Don't forget to stop by tomorrow for Scraptastic Saturday and some features!  Remember, if you used scrapbook paper you can link up!

P.P.S. I'm guessing that the winner of The Vintage Pearl isn't going to claim her prize so I'll be drawing again! She's got until tomorrow!
