This may not be the most riveting post you have ever read in your life but this is one of my proudest projects to ever complete.
My brother wanted a nice chess set for Christmas. I know that I could have easily bought him one, but I wanted part of it to be handmade. I knew I wanted the pieces to be a little larger than normal and found them on Ebay for a good deal.
I then commenced the wonderful husband to help me out. (Note: This project could not be completed without his help! No.way.in.heck.) We decided that each square should be 2 in. x 2 in.
Here are the results!
Each square was cut out individually. In case you were wondering, that would be 64 squares. Individually cut. 64 total. That's a lot of tiny little squares. We then stained them two different colors, glued them to another board and then put trim around the entire thing. Wyatt then put about 43938 coats of poly on. Not even kidding.
And now about a gazillion more pictures because this is my most favorite project ever.
The icing on the cake was when my brother said that this was probably the best Christmas gift he's ever gotten. I'll take that compliment any day :)
