Pennant America Banner

I've made a total of two 4th of July decorations this year. Shame.Shame.

This one was super easy to complete. Just grab some scrapbook paper, cut some letters on a Cricut, glue it all together and string up with some twine.

Seriously. It can't get any easier than that.

I hung my banner up on the old window I re-purposed.

Sometimes you just need a quick craft!

Square Wreath for 4th of July

With school and life going on I haven't had much time to make anything for July 4th. Well I finally finished something for my front door!

I got this idea from Pinterest. The wreath below is made by Michele Made Me.

I loved everything about it. Especially that it was made out of newspaper! That screams FREE to me.

We get the newspaper ads in the mail all the time and I got some from work.

Cut tons of strips of newspaper. Then start making rosettes. Use the same technique as you would with fabric.

If you follow me on Facebook, you saw my newspaper rosettes.

At this point I was rosetted out. My fingers were burnt and it took an episode of So You Think You Can Dance and Shrek 4 to make all of those. I must be just a wee bit slow.

I then made a frame from some scrap wood leftover from the chess board that Wyatt and I made. I also spay painted the flowers in red, white, and blue. The hot glue them on the frame in a random pattern.

And here's how it came out:

I just love it!

I will probably never make another one, or at least if I do it will only have 3 rosettes.

I just love the square frame, so different then the normal circle. Yes, I bleeped out our house number. I don't want any creepers checking up on us!

Have you made any 4th of July decor?

Happy Father's Day {With a Special Project}

Happy Father's Day!

I have a pretty awesome dad myself and I wanted to make him something special for his day. My dad is an electrician. He no longer works in the field but works in an office ordering all of the parts for the job sites. Since he's still around all of that electrician stuff, I wanted to make him something with electrician stuff!

Here's how I made it:

I cut a piece of board to the length/width that I wanted. Then drill two holes to put the dowels in and glue them.

This part SUCKS majorly bad. It's time to weave. I used electrician tape in red and yellow. Let me just say, it's not easy to weave sticky tape. Not.easy.at.all.

At this point I was thinking, wow, I will never make something like this again!

Once the weaving was done, I punched holes in my pictures and took electrical wire to make a "hanger". I tried to make a pretty curl for more interest. I used the wire connectors (the blue things) to "hang" the pictures. Everthing is hot glued on.

I really like how it turned out and I think my dad will love it!

I used all the pictures from my sister's graduation.

I hope that everyone spoils their Dad's today and has a wonderful Father's Day!

Introducing 1 Fine Cookie!

You may have noticed a new button hanging out in my side bar.
It belongs to a fabulous new blogger 1 Fine Cookie!

I would like to warn before heading over there to check out 1 Fine Cookie that she has incredibly cute food and you are more than likely to gain 5 lbs. just by looking at it. That being said, it all looks scrumptious!

That's Jasmin, I've come to the conclusion that she doesn't eat the food she fixes. Kidding. But seriously, she must workout for about 4 hours a day. She is absolutely gorgeous and has a love and a passion for cooking. Everything she makes looks beautiful and delicious. She is also witty, in my opinion!

Here are just a few things that I liked. You'll have to check out her blog for more awesomeness!

Just look at these adorable turtle snicker bites. Almost to cute to eat. Almost...

Such a cool idea... pizza cake. But not really cake, just pizza, stacked like a cake. Yum-O!

Umm, yes please, I will take all of these Reese's Ice Cream Peanut Butter Cups!

1 Fine Cookie also has a shop where you can get some of her yummy items all for yourself!

Like these cutie cake pops. She's also got cookies and other delicious stuff!

So please, wipe the drool off of your mouse so that you can click on over to 1 Fine Cookie! Follow along to get some great recipe ideas and visit her shop to satisfy your sweet tooth!
