Sisal Rope Wreath

A while ago, Centsational Girl posted about her sisal rope bowl. I just loved it and have been brainstorming uses for sisal rope.

That's when I thought about doing a wreath. Especially since my 4th of July was still hanging proud on my front door. I figure red, white and blue can pretty much be used any month out of the year. At least that was what I was telling myself since it is almost September and I still had my patriotic wreath hanging up :)

So I went and got my supplies. I only got one package of sisal rope but ended up needing two.

I started by making my hanger. I could have easily used ribbon but I really wanted to use the rope.

If I were to make this again, I would use ribbon. I think the hanger made the rope start angling weird while I was wrapping it around. See how I had to go over that hump?

In the picture below you can really see the weird angle. This is also the point I got to when I ran out of rope. Hate when that happens!

I finished wrapping all the way around from the left to the right. Due to the weird angle though I wasn't able to complete it. So I did a little improvising. I knew that I wanted an interchangeable wreath. I grabbed some Velcro and stuck it on in my gaping hole.

I then rolled up some flowers and hot glued them to a piece of fabric so that it was one piece. Place the Velcro on the back and WA-LA! I've got a wreath I can change whenever I feel like!

I hope that visitors don't inspect the side to closely...

Overall I really love how it turned out!

I don't think that people will even notice the weird angle of the rope to much either.

FYI, sisal rope is kind of expensive. Like $9 bucks for one roll. I guess it's a good thing that this wreath can be changed out for any color I want!

That being said, I hope you have all had a super great week! Here are some fab features from last week:

The Orchard in Bloom created the most chic and professional skirt. This skirt would work for all shapes and sizes!

On a More Personal Note: Our Trip to Chicago and Michigan

Don't forget to enter the Chi-Chi Studio Design giveaway HERE! Win a mason jar soap pump!

This is a personal post so if you're not into that sort of thing hit that big x at the top right.

However, if you are into that sort of thing, you can now enjoy a ridiculous amount of pictures and commentary :)

My husband, brother-in-law and his girlfriend all went to visit my husband's older brother, wife, and kids in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Uhhh, got that?! We flew into Chicago and so we spend the entire day there before driving to Kalamazoo. Don't you wish you lived in a town named Kalamazoo? Sounds super cool to me!

We stopped for lunch Giordano's. OH.MY.HEAVEN. This may be the best pizza I've ever tasted in my whole entire life. No pizza will ever compare. Never.

My sweet nephew and my amazingly handsome husband.

These are just all random buildings. I just loved the architecture!

We visited the Science and Industry museum. WOW you could spend the entire day there and never look at everything they have!

We went to the top of the Hancock Tower which is the highest point you can reach in Chicago. Sears (or Willis) Tower is the tallest but Hancock is the tallest lookout. That's me and the hubs in the bottom left and the little brother-in-law and his girlfriend in the bottom right.

One day was spent visiting Lake Michigan. WOW, it is just like a beach. White sandy beaches, clear water and even occasional waves from boats! We splashed, made sand angels, and relaxed!

They have TONS of apple and peach orchards in Michigan. We were hoping to pick some apples but they weren't ready yet. Instead we picked peaches!

The hubs and I with both of our adorable nephews!

We had a wonderful trip. Not to mention that the temps didn't rise above 80 the entire time! Now we are back in the triple digit heat here in Louisiana.

If you're still with me I hope that you enjoyed a glimpse into my personal life! I'm not really sure if you guys enjoying these kinds of posts or not...

P.S. I hope to do some SERIOUS crafting this weekend which means projects to share!

Jalapeno Poppers

I found this recipe for jalapeno poppers on Pinterest awhile back. I just used what I had on hand and I also used turkey bacon. Hey why not save a few calories?!

These came fresh from my garden. That's it. There were 3 plants and I got a total of 6 whopping jalapenos! FYI, the red just means it stayed on the plant longer. It doesn't mean it's any spicier or bad.

All wrapped up and ready to be cooked!

Ahhh, I tell ya, there is nothing like cream cheese and bacon. Mmmmm!!

Back from Vacation and a WINNER!

Well guys I'm back from my week long vacation at Lake Ouachita. I can't say that it was the best vacation that I've ever had. We had to wake up several times in the middle of the night to break down tents due to storms. Besides all of that though, we had a blast! I didn't fix my hair or wear make-up and got a great tan!

You just can't beat the gorgeous views!

Me and my handsome hubby.

I hope you all enjoyed the guest post's this week and found some new blogs to follow!
