I found this dresser at an estate sale for a sweet $20. Only, it was outdated and in bad need of a paint job.
It also had a friendly dirt dobber nest hanging out on the side. And if you look closely at the picture on the left you will notice that the bottom piece of wood was uneven. The left side was about 2 inches short of the bottom. Of course I didn’t notice this until I got it home.
I pried off the bottom piece.
I replaced it with a solid piece of board that we had in the garage. I couldn’t even tell you what type of wood it is!
Next, I had BIG dreams of having a perfectly stained top with a beautiful white bottom. I’ve wanted to do that for a while. So I sanded, and sanded, and sanded some more. I have a huge aversion to sanding. Like, I didn’t sand any other piece of this furniture because I hate it so much.
And then this happened…
WTH! It looked absolutely awful. I blame it on the type of wood. It most definitely is not my sub standard staining skills. Back to square one. I then just painted her white all over. I gave the drawer pulls a quick spray paint of silver. I also ditched the flowery looking thing that dated the dresser.
Now you may be wondering why I’m showing you all the after pictures in the garage. That’s because I bought this piece primarily to paint and then try to sale to make a little money. We’ll see how it goes!
