Weekly Meal Organizer {Tutorial}

Weekly Meal Organizer

This may not be the cutest craft I’ve ever done but let me tell you, it sure is functional. I’ve seen so many super cute weekly/daily meal plans and I’ve wanted to do one for a long time.

I asked Wyatt about doing one with designated meals each day. He didn’t like the idea of daily meal plans because what if we wanted something different on that day. Hmmm, good point. So I opted to make a weekly meal plan with 7 meals planned out for the week. Then we can pick and choose which ones we want to eat. If we happen to go out to eat that night, that meal will get moved to the following week.

Another reason I wanted to start one is because I wanted a more organized shopping list. We have been shopping once a month for the big bulk of everything and then I would go once a week and buy fruit and milk and of course other things made it into the buggy as well. I’ve read many places that if you shop once a week you will save more money. We are going to give it a shot and see how it goes!

I guess it’s a good thing that I’m that weird person that likes grocery shopping.

Ok, so here is how I made my weekly meal organizer.

You will need:
Small Clothespins
Scrapbook Paper
Foam Board (It’s bendy. I’m not really sure if it’s called foam board.)
Magnets
Index Cards (For recipes)
Mod Podge
Hot Glue

I chose this scrapbook paper to match my bill organizers.

Trace your clothespin and then cut it out. I used my xacto knife. Love that thing! Then mod podge your paper to your clothespin.

Then take your index cards and place them on some scrapbook paper. Position where some scrapbook paper is hanging over the edges, almost like a frame for the index card. Position all on your foam board and then hot glue your clothespins on.

I had to golf some paper to make a cute pocket for the index cards because I’d used up all my paper after I made a wrong cut. Guess it’s a good thing I like it!

Hot glue your magnets to the back. I just used all the ones in the package.

For the record: I was going to have cute words on the top that said “Weekly Menu Plan” but I used some mod podge I’ve had since probably the 9th grade and it didn’t dry right. So I just chopped off the top and said to heck with it!

It is so functional! This is my first week to do weekly grocery shopping. So far so good.

Do you recognize and of these recipes? Italian Pizza Casserole you can find HERE. I just realized I never posted about skillet lasagna. It’s such an easy weeknight meal and it’s delicious!

You can see the folded paper pocket better here. I love the flair it adds.

And now it’s hanging on the side by the stove. You can see my fridge frames HERE and easy button magnets HERE. BTW, the easy button magnets were like when the blog was super new. So if you want a good laugh, go check it out.

Do you have a weekly/daily meal organizer in your house? How many times a week do you go grocery shopping?
