I’ve had the 2x4 for these little “Love” blocks cut and painted for approximately 3 years now. Each year I would take them out and tell myself I would finish them and each year I never got around to it. Well, this year, I wasn’t putting up a half finished project!
I started off with my blocks cut and painted. It’s pretty easy to grab a 2x4 and cut it down to the size needed. I just paint around the edges.
I had this pink and brown scrapbook paper on hand already. I chose to use the top one.
Take your block and trace around your block.
Once you’ve got all your pieces cut out. Take some mod podge and wipe it all over the block. I’ve never used antique mod podge but I really liked it. It added a little age but not to much.
You will want to be sure and smooth your scrapbook paper so that it doesn’t bubble. I used a handy dandy little tool that Plaid Crafts sent me. In the past I’ve used a hard CD case or a credit card.
I used my Cricut (Alphalicious font) to cut out my LOVE letters. Mod podge over the entire block.
Once the mod podge dried, I took some brown ink and added it to the edges. It’s very subtle.
That’s it! This is a super simple and quick craft.
And here you can see them on my mantle. I’ve got a few more things I plan on adding. You can find the LOVE mirror HERE.
I love that once a year I can totally girliefy the mantle :)
