Juice Cleanse: Day 1

Before starting this whole thing I told myself, “It’s only 3 days, it won’t be that bad!” After day 1, I wanted to quit approximately 99 times. This has been much harder than I thought. It’s just so strange to go all day without eating, without chewing. Unnatural even. It probably didn’t help that I had to go to dinner last night at Red Lobster for my mother-in-law’s birthday. Pure.torture.

I’m going to break down my day for you guys and the juice that I drank, how I felt, if I liked it and what time I drank it.

Juice 1- 8:30
2 apples
2 grapefruit
1 packet stevia


I’m not a huge grapefruit fan so this one was just OK. The apples helped tone down the grapefruit and the stevia made it a little sweeter. This one was drinkable and I would probably drink it again. At this point I wasn’t very hungry.

Juice 2- 11:00
Handful of Kale
3 peeled oranges
1 lemon


I was semi-hungry but not starving. This one really wasn’t bad. Kale has a such a strong green color that makes for an interesting color juice. The lemon really overpowers the entire drink. I like lemon so this one was do-able.

Juice 3- 1:30
4 Carrots
2 Apples
1” Ginger root


Not a fan at all of this one. I like carrots but holy moly they are not good as a juice! This one was very hard for me to drink. I was hungry by this point so I choked it down. I started to have a slight headache and was feeling sluggish. I will NOT be making this one again.

Juice 4- 4:00
1/2 Pineapple (cut off rind)
2 oranges


This one was delicious! This one is my favorite one so far. I was not hungry. Still have a dull headache.

Juice 5- 7:00
3 Tomato’s
1 carrot
handful of spinach
handful parsley

This one was alright but I love tomato’s. I learned at this point after adding one carrot that I don’t like carrot juice and will not be adding it to anymore of my juices. I was a little hungry and still had a dull headache. This was the hardest time because I was out to eat with the family. I stayed strong and did not eat one morsel of food.

Juice 6- Did not drink
1 beet
2 apples
1 carrot

I made this one before we left for dinner. I was full and didn’t really like this one. I skipped it. I probably shouldn’t have but the thought of drinking it was repulsing.

I fell asleep watching TV around 9:30. Woke up at 10 and went and got in the bed. I was so tired!
