Juice Cleanse: Day 2

3 Day Juice Cleanse


Yesterday I thought about quitting approximately 99 times. Today, that number easily tripled. It is so difficult not eating. I can’t say that enough. It’s almost like not taking a shower. It’s just something that you are supposed to do. I lost 2 pounds which helped a little. 


I was pretty horrible about taking pictures today and here’s how Day 2 went:


Juice 1- 8:30

2 cups strawberries

1 apple

4 Kale leaves

handful spinach


This recipe originally called for 2 carrots. I just couldn’t do it so I substituted the carrots for kale and spinach. This one was good. It was easy to drink. I woke up with a headache. I was hungry but not starving.


Juice 2- 10:30

2 peeled oranges

1 tomato


This recipe originally called for 2 stalks of celery. I simply omitted them. The taste of celery is so strong and I don’t like it even before it’s juiced. This one was OK. It was pretty easy to drink. I was not hungry.


Juice 3- 1:45

4-5 Kale leaves

1/2 Pineapple (no rind)


Love this one. Super easy to drink because I love pineapple. I was not hungry. I drank this one later than I planned because I was so tired and took a nap.


Juice 4- 4:00

3 pears

1 whole yam

1 apple



Disgusting! This one tasted like chalk. It was very, very hard to drink but somehow I choked it down. I was a little hungry and had a slight headache.


Juice 5- 6:30

Not really a juice but a smoothie.

3 frozen bananas

1 cup spinach

1/2 cup almond milk

1 tbsp vanilla


SO good. I will be making this again for a snack but with less bananas. This basically tasted like ice cream. It ended up being so thick that I had to eat it with a spoon, which in turn made me feel that I was actually eating. At this point I had decided that I wasn’t going to do Day 3. We went to my brother-in-law and sister-in-laws house for dinner and games.  They had hamburgers and looked so yum. I was semi-hungry and still had a dull headache.


Juice 6- Didn’t drink

1 whole beet

2 apples

1 orange


Again, the beets aren’t for me. I have one on the menu for tomorrow and will be doing something different. I sort of cheated and ate an apple. At least it was a fruit. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.


Overall, Day 2 was harder than Day 1. I had decided that I wasn’t going to Day 3 because I just wanted to eat! I changed my mind because I didn’t want to let myself down. I knew I would look back and be disappointed. However, I have decided that I will have a meal for dinner tomorrow night. A real meal that involves chewing and swallowing. It will probably be a hot meal too.

Juice Cleanse: Day 1

Before starting this whole thing I told myself, “It’s only 3 days, it won’t be that bad!” After day 1, I wanted to quit approximately 99 times. This has been much harder than I thought. It’s just so strange to go all day without eating, without chewing. Unnatural even. It probably didn’t help that I had to go to dinner last night at Red Lobster for my mother-in-law’s birthday. Pure.torture.

I’m going to break down my day for you guys and the juice that I drank, how I felt, if I liked it and what time I drank it.

Juice 1- 8:30
2 apples
2 grapefruit
1 packet stevia


I’m not a huge grapefruit fan so this one was just OK. The apples helped tone down the grapefruit and the stevia made it a little sweeter. This one was drinkable and I would probably drink it again. At this point I wasn’t very hungry.

Juice 2- 11:00
Handful of Kale
3 peeled oranges
1 lemon


I was semi-hungry but not starving. This one really wasn’t bad. Kale has a such a strong green color that makes for an interesting color juice. The lemon really overpowers the entire drink. I like lemon so this one was do-able.

Juice 3- 1:30
4 Carrots
2 Apples
1” Ginger root


Not a fan at all of this one. I like carrots but holy moly they are not good as a juice! This one was very hard for me to drink. I was hungry by this point so I choked it down. I started to have a slight headache and was feeling sluggish. I will NOT be making this one again.

Juice 4- 4:00
1/2 Pineapple (cut off rind)
2 oranges


This one was delicious! This one is my favorite one so far. I was not hungry. Still have a dull headache.

Juice 5- 7:00
3 Tomato’s
1 carrot
handful of spinach
handful parsley

This one was alright but I love tomato’s. I learned at this point after adding one carrot that I don’t like carrot juice and will not be adding it to anymore of my juices. I was a little hungry and still had a dull headache. This was the hardest time because I was out to eat with the family. I stayed strong and did not eat one morsel of food.

Juice 6- Did not drink
1 beet
2 apples
1 carrot

I made this one before we left for dinner. I was full and didn’t really like this one. I skipped it. I probably shouldn’t have but the thought of drinking it was repulsing.

I fell asleep watching TV around 9:30. Woke up at 10 and went and got in the bed. I was so tired!
