Dr. Seuss Quote Pallet Art {Tutorial}

Dr. Seuss Pallet Art

I love Dr. Seuss and his quotes. For our office at work, we wanted a quote that inspired us every time we walked out the door to work with kids. This one is perfect for that! It reminds me that I am an advocate for kids of all ages.

I used 1x4’s all cut to the same length. I then found a few leftover 1x2’s to nail to the back to hold it together.

You don’t need a cutting machine to do this. However, this method is WAY more time consuming! I’ve used it before on this Halloween Direction Post. Simply print off your words in whatever font you want. Then take a pencil and trace over all of the words.

I know it’s hard to see but you can see the outline of the A I traced in the picture above.

It took two coats of acrylic paint. Like I said, time consuming!

Of course it was to perfect for my taste. I grabbed the sander and roughed up all of the edges and then lightly sanded over the whole thing to get a worn look.

I wanted the edges to be a darker stain rather than the lighter wood. So I grabbed my stain in Ebony and used a paint brush to apply it.

I used D rings and picture hanging wire to hang it up.

That’s it! It turned out perfect for our office.

Have you ever used this method to make a sign?
