Brittany’s Fun Friday!

Fun Friday

I am excited for my turn on the Fun Friday post!  I am going to show a few random things that I have really been loving recently.

My friend Shannon introduced me to Origins, a skincare company that produces all natural, organic products without all the parabens, phthalates, paraffin, etc.  The sale associates aren’t pushy but explain each product for your skin type and provide TONS of samples.  Their “A Perfect World” line is perfect for my skin type (no real problems and trying to keep it that way).  I will warn you, visiting their store will not be good for your wallet.  The products are pricey but a little goes a long way and their return policy is stellar.  I look forward to my nightly routine of wash, tone, serum, moisturize and the once or twice a week exfoliate.

I picked up this Moroccan mint tea at Sprouts Farmers Market.  I love tea almost as much as I love wine…and that is a lot of love.  I drink a cup of tea every morning at work and most nights before bed out of my GIANT mugs.  Which leads me to my next two favorites….

Sprouts Website Postcard All Purpose

Sprouts’s logo is “Healthy Living for Less”.  Their produce selection is always great, fresh, and affordable.  I don’t normally buy any other groceries at Sprouts (bedsides the tea or an occasional bottle of wine) but their fruits and veggies are such a great price compared to our other local grocery stores.

 Fun Friday 1

This is my last Fun Friday favorite.  Not only do Brent and I love to drink tea together, we love to drink it out of huge mugs, aka soup bowls.  He loves his chamomile with honey and I love mint or chai.  Follow me on instagram at for more pictures, favorites, and blog news!!

Estate Sale Rocking Chair Redo

Rocking Chair

As you know, I love estate sales and repurposing tired furniture into something beautiful.  I have always enjoyed rocking chairs and knew I needed one for my front porch (I definitely want two when I have a bigger porch).

I had a weekday off a few months ago and the stars aligned and there was an estate sale on a Wednesday!  I knew there was a rocking chair after looking though the picture online and crossed my fingers no one snagged it before I arrived.  It was in ROUGH shape and needed some love.

Rocking Chair 1

The chair was marked $20 and I knew I couldn’t pass it up.  However, when I went to pay with my debit card the employee said cash only.  I was devastated because I only had $15 on me.  The guy was very understanding and made the deal!!

I couldn’t wait to get started, so I laid down a moving blanket in my living room, turned on HGTV and spent the entire afternoon hand sanding….yes you read that right, I hand sanded all those nooks and crannies.  I bought a small sample size of, you guessed it, WHITE.  I love my neutrals and thought the white would really pop and look crisp.  Although it was a tedious project, it is the best way to spend a day off and to have a brand new rocking chair for $15, you can’t beat that.

Here is the finished product on Brent's front porch!  Now all it needs is a decorative pillow, I'm thinking monogrammed burlap :)

Industrial Lamp

Lamp 1

A lamp can make a space really come together. After browsing around, I found this industrial looking lamp. It is nothing short of amazing. It is adjustable at the bottom, the middle, and the lamp head. This lamp is super high quality and weighs a ton.

Right now this lamp is in my moms craft room. It makes a great addition! It really reminds me of the Pixar lamp. has just about any kind of light you could ever dream of having. From table lamps, to ceiling lights, to wall lights. If you are looking for a new light, they will have exactly what you are looking for.

Here are a few other lamps that I found on that I would snatch up in a heartbeat.

Now all I need is a lot more money! Want to contribute to the light fund?? :)

I was gifted the lamp in the photos above from, all opinions are my own.

Motorcycle Nursery

Motorcycle nursery 5

As I’ve mentioned 1 or 100 times, one of my best friends is having a baby. I’ve already shared a nursing cover and diaper clutch that I made for her. The bookshelf you see here was something we redid also.

I can’t take credit for the design of this nursery. The only thing I can take credit for was helping hang up the chair rail. My friends husband loves motorcycles and has one of his own. When they found out they were having a boy they decided a motorcycle theme would be perfect. The motorcycle signs came from Hobby Lobby.

Motorcycle nursery 3

The bedding and curtains were all custom made by my aunt. She did an amazing job!

Motorcycle nursery 2

One of our other best friends made these canvases. They go perfectly in here. I LOVE the road map one! She found this little shelf at Hobby Lobby. They needed something to put the camera baby monitor on and this was a cute option!

motorcycle nursery 4

One of our other best friends made the wreath. The red part has a place to fill in his weight, height, etc. The dresser makes a perfect changing table AND adds tons of storage.

Motorcycle nursery

I think it turned out so fun! It’s not often that you find motorcycle themed nursery’s. This one turned out just perfect. I can’t wait to snuggle the little guy :)

Thanks for reading!

Hannah’s Fun Friday

Fun Friday

What’s this “Fun Friday”, you ask? Well it’s a little compilation of randomness. Brittany and I are going to start alternating weeks where we share a few fun things that we love, did, or want to do. We want our readers to get to know us a little better and maybe find some great new products. These posts may be compiled of food, fashion, make-up, exercise, etc. You name it, there is a good chance you might see some of it here! We aren’t putting a specific number of things we are sharing but just whatever we feel like.

To sum things up, these Fun Friday posts will be fun of random things. Fun right?! So let’s get started with this first ever Fun Friday.

Let me introduce you to the most amazing mascara in all the land. I refuse to buy any other kind. This stuff does wonders for your eyelashes. It keeps them soft and makes them look longer. Maybe one day I’ll do a side by side of one eye with and one eye without.

packing tips and tricks

My sis and I are going on a really big trip this summer. I’m sure you will hear more about it soon. This blog post has some GREAT packing tips.

This weenie dogs face cracks me up. He looks like a little grandpa! I love weenie dogs. In fact, I’ve got 2 of my own.

My mom came with me to the Pinterest Party last Sunday at Michaels. I get any and all of my craftiness from her. She was such a big help and I sure do love her! Thanks mom :)

So that’s pretty much how these Fun Friday posts will go. A little of this and a little of that. I hope you enjoy them!

Burlap Wall Art Birthday Gift

I love birthdays and I love homemade gifts!!  Especially when a friend shows me something they have seen and I can try and recreate it with a personalized touch.

My friend Shannon was recently at a craft show with her mom and saw a burlap canvas with a beautiful quote that reminded her of her late father.  I knew immediately I would recreate it for her birthday in February!!

Burlap Canvas

I chose the yellow ribbon, her and her dad’s favorite color!  Shannon and her family loved the gift & even made requests with their favorite quotes for me to recreate Smile.  It was a tedious process, so I may wait a while before making any other special gifts.  Below is a tutorial for you to create your own painted burlap canvas.

Burlap Canvas 1

I used my favorite picture editing program, to type out the quote in different fonts and sizes.  Now the difficult & tedious parts….using an Exacto knife to cut out each curly letter!  I had to pry my latched fingers off the Exacto knife after about 4 hours.  I know what you are thinking…I need a Cricut or Silhouette.  Well that is definitely on my wish list & would have made this project a million times easier.  I have linked the websites, just in case anyone is feeling generous!

Burlap Canvas 2

I used straight pins to hold the letters in place while I traced them with a black Sharpie.

Burlap Canvas 3

I colored all of the letters in with a Sharpie and wasn’t pleased with the look.  I knew paint would give me the effect I wanted, however the small script would be difficult with a paintbrush.  Hannah, that clever sister of mine, suggested a paint pen so that I could still get the paint effect with the precision of a marker.

Burlap Canvas 4

I am really excited that Shannon loved it so much and to give a gift that has such a special meaning.  If you love burlap projects check out my Hometalk & Michael’s Pinterest Party post HERE.  And check out those bowling shoes in the picture above Smile.  Such a fun day.

Michaels and Hometalk Pinterest Party in Shreveport, LA!

I had such a great time at the Pinterest party this past Sunday. I didn’t have quite the turnout that Brittany had but it was still fun. I had a few friends come to the event that made the burlap canvas picture holder. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to meet anyone new! I must say though, the Michaels staff were wonderful. They liked the burlap canvas picture holder so they both made their own version and crafted right along with us!

There are a few things that I would do differently next time (I hope there is a next time!!). You live, you learn! Here are a few pictures from the fun day!

My mom came along for moral support. I was so glad she came!

I love how they each did their own thing. The beachy blue one is really pretty and I also really like the smaller version.

These are the fun ladies who work at Michaels. They both did their own thing to and both of theirs turned out so fun!

It just amazes me how creative people can be using the same products. Thanks for a fun day Michaels and Hometalk!

Hometalk and Michaels Pinterest Party in San Antonio, TX!!!

The Hometalk Pinterest Party at Michael’s in San Antonio was such a blast!!  The staff could not have been any more helpful.  They made announcements advertising the event throughout the 3 hours, helped crafters find all their supplies, and checked in often.  We were set up in the private class, which I was slightly hesitant about at first thinking we wouldn’t get much traffic.  Boy was I wrong!  We had a great turnout of about 14 crafters and many people who learned of the event while shopping in-store.

Pinterest Party

I had my table set up displaying the monogrammed burlap canvas and planned on making the project with the crafters during the event.  I was so busy helping others and explaining all the Pinterest craft options that I had no time to work on my craft, which was totally fine with me.

Pinterest Party 1

I was pleasantly surprised when walking into the classroom.  The staff had 3 tables set up with foam brushes, paint, chalkboard stickers, and embellishments for the picture frame…all at not cost to the crafters!  I think that really enticed customers to stay and craft.  I made these flyers the morning of the event due to not receiving my apron and Hometalk flyers so that I could still encourage people to join and like Michael’s on Hometalk for a chance to win a $100 Michaels gift card.

Pinterest Party 2
There was plenty of inspiration throughout the store with the Pinterest inspired end-caps with pictures and supplies on display.  Customers could simply purchase their supplies and meet me in the classroom.  I had many crafters stop halfway through their projects to go grab extra embellishments!!  Sure makes it easier than having to drive back to the store if you forgot anything

Pinterest Party 3

I had a good friend, Hector, help make the front board decorated with my flyers and business cards to help peak interest.  The crafter in the top frame stayed almost the entire time and made about 3 different picture frames.  I was ecstatic that Brent (the boyfriend <3) came for moral support and even made a picture frame for his mom for Mother’s Day!!

Pinterest Party 4

Thanks to Shannon for coming to the event and making this super cute heart picture frame.  This was by far the most popular project because of the make-and-take ease and Michael’s provided these heart frames from a leftover project free to the crafters, along with the scrapbook paper and a limited supply of the embellishments.

This was such an enjoyable experience crafting with ladies & Brent, promoting Hometalk, Michaels, and Young and Crafty Sisters.  Everyone asked when the next Pinterest Party will be and the employees asked if I might want to come back in the next few months.  ABSOLUTELY!!   I would do it every month!!  There was even a reporter from The San Antonio Express newspaper who made an appearance and interviewed me and observed during the event.
