DIY Glitter Sunglasses

Gold glitter sunglasses

Sometimes you just want to create something that doesn’t take to long. This is it!

SunglassesRedo

You will need extra fine glitter in the color of your choice. You will also need Mod Podge and a paint brush.

Glitter sunglasses 1

Very carefully pop the lenses out. Then coat the glasses in Mod Podge and start dumping glitter all over. Once it dries well, put another coat of Mod Podge on top to prevent as much glitter as you can from flaking off.

Be sure to check out how THIS post to see how I redid the other sunglasses!

Get Featured!

I am reposting this because I have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to doing the Google Doc thing! If you submitted a post and I have not contacted you, please email me at hannah@youngandcraftysisters.com. If you have not submitted anything, you still have time! What are you waiting for?!

We have kind of hinted around to a big vacation that we are going on. We are taking a sister trip to Europe! The trip is scheduled for June 4-18. We are flying into Paris, then flying to Germany, and the remainder of our trip will be spent in Italy. If you have been to any of these countries and have advice, we are all ears!! Of course, we will be posting tons of pictures of our adventures on Instagram (hannahyoungandcrafty and brittanyyoungandcrafty)

It is going to be here before we know it, so we are starting to take guest post submissions.

You must meet one of these two requirements:

1. Create a new tutorial that has never been posted on your blog.

2. Have a tutorial that is at least 6 months old on your blog.

If you have never submitted to be featured, don’t be scared! It’s a great way to get a little exposure for your blog. It doesn’t matter how big or small your blog is!

Craft Table Redo

Every crafter needs a table to spread out a project and work on for days without having to gather up all the materials and put them away daily.  I currently work on projects in my bedroom, usually sitting on my bed due to limited space.  So I have been looking forward to having my own craft room and an area to spread out!!

I am so excited about how my finished craft table turned out!!

Craft Table

I knew I wanted to find a big wooden table and repaint it.  I have had my eyes peeled for months at estate sales.  In  April I found my perfect table for a heck of a deal.  The sign said $45 and it was 50% off, however the gentlemen gave it to me for $15!!  It was pretty rough and needed some love and attention.

Craft Table 1

There was a laminate top glued down that I didn’t notice until I got it home.  I decided to peel the laminate top off and sand it down.  I was pleasantly surprised by the solid wood underneath, in decent shape.

Craft Table 4

Here are the materials I thought I was going to use. I knew I wanted an accent color and had teal or mint in mind when I went to Home Depot.  I fell in love with Radiant Orchid (the color of the year)!!

I attempted to make my own chalk paint so that I could avoid sanding the whole table.  It was a DISASTER!!  I thought I followed this blog’s instructions perfectly….but it was so thick I couldn’t paint it onto the table.  I ruined my entire can of paint even though I mixed in a separate container.  I kept adding the paint to try to thin out the consistency until I was out of paint.   Womp womp womp.  If you make your own chalk paint, I would love any tips or tricks….I will give it another try!

Craft Table 2

So I went into Brent’s garage and found multiple cans of paint left by the previous owners, used to paint the inside walls.  PERFECT!  I definitely didn’t want to stop mid project and make a Home Depot run.

So the sanding continued all over the legs, it was a breeze and took no time at all with my electric sander ($7 from an estate sale!).

Craft Table 5

This project was full of setbacks.  After I painted the first coat of white on top it started to rain :(

I had to repaint the table top about 3 times due to rain or drops from the trees.  The garage would have been a better location but I was home alone and couldn’t carry the table from the backyard to the garage.  So the struggle continued.

I laid down my painters tape in the width I wanted and then painted a coat of white first.  This ensures that any paint bleeding under the tape will be white, not the bright pink.  It makes for a crisp, straight, professional line!!

Craft Table 6

Next, I painted the accent color over the white.  I remove the tape before the paint dries.  I think it helps to make a crisp line, also.

Craft Table 7

I absolutely love the finished product.  The crisp white against the radiant orchid.  And the pop of color when the drawers are pulled out.  Can you believe the entire project cost less than $40, including the actual table!!

Thanks so  much for reading!  Stay tuned for many more projects as I get settled into my new home in Conroe.

Brittany’s Fun Friday

Fun Friday

I have been on vacation this whole week.  I was able to finally work on a craft project, stay tuned to see the finished product on the blog soon.  I also tried a few new things this week.

Top Golf…they just opened the Top Golf in Spring and I have been begging Brent to take me.  We went with his mom and sister for Mother’s Day.  Such a fun idea.

I also spent Tuesday with my friend Caitlin for her birthday.  Mexican food, margaritas, mimosas, and a Texas Ranger’s baseball game (too bad it was cold and they lost).  I love going to most sporting events!

And I ended my week of vacation in east Texas staying with my family.  I really enjoyed playing croquet in the backyard.  Can’t wait to see Hannah graduate on Sunday with her Specialist in School Psychology…such a smarty!

So glad to have a week off but I am very much looking forward to mine and Hannah’s Europe adventure in June!!!

Stay tune for some actual crafty content this week.  Hannah and I have been extremely busy and the crafting has  taken a backseat, unfortunately.

Thanks so much for reading!

Hannah’s Fun Friday

Wow guys, this school year is almost over! I graduate next weekend with my Specialist in School Psychology degree. Brittany will be coming into town and spending almost a week. Can’t wait!

Womens Mossimo Supply Co. Odell Ballet Flats - Cheetah

I don’t think I have these exact flats from Target but I have a leopard pair from there. Or is it Cheetah? Who care, I wear these suckers with just about everything.

I feel like everyone needs to watch at least one trashy reality show. Ok, let’s get real, I watch way more than one. I love The Real Housewives of Orange County. I don’t really watch any of the other Housewives but I’m always sucked back in to the OC.

I love cooking with quinoa. It is a healthy, filling food and can be mixed with a lot of stuff. True story, I actually just learned how to pronounce it correctly about 6 months ago. I used to say Kee-noah but finally learned that is is Keen-wah.

Hope you have a great weekend! Thanks for reading!
