Brittany’s Fall Décor

Fall

Happy Fall!  Welcome to our home for a mini tour of my first time decorating for a season!  As you can tell by the shorts and sleeveless top, it does not feel like fall in Texas, however the calendar says otherwise and I’m getting in the spirit (fake it ‘til you make it, right!?).

Fall 1

Before our big garage sale last month, Hannah and I went through her decorations and she let me keep quite a few things for my new home.  Such a great sis!!  Here is my fall inspired mantle.  Check out how Hannah made her own leave garland (here).

Fall 2

I inherited this pumpkin from Hannah’s fall decorations.  See how she made it (here), she had a huge fail before these were an adorable success.   Brent actually picked out this scarecrow on a paint-pen-run to Michael’s craft store.

Fall 3

I love the height that the wheat adds to this side of the mantle.  I actually bought this bundle of wheat to use in the fall wreath and had this much left over!  Plus it was on sale for only $3.50.  I found an old carafe, wrapped a piece of chevron burlap around the base and tied it off with some twine.  Quick and easy arrangement and I can take it all apart and use the carafe again!!  Brent and I bought one of these pumpkins at Michael’s and the other two were from Hannah.

Fall 4

I love this little scarecrow on our front porch, welcoming all our guests.  See how Hannah decorated with this guy at her old house (here).   My porch looks a little puny compared to her corn husks and tons of pumpkins…but hey, it’s my first year to decorate!!

Fall 5

I am loving the new rocking chair pillow (also from Hannah).  Check out my tutorial on this estate sale rocking chair re-do (here).

Fall 6

I am probably most excited about this DIY fall wreath!  I got the urge to make a wreath at about 11pm one night, so I woke up early to go to Hobby Lobby as soon as the doors opened at 9am!  I got all the supplies to make this gorgeous wreath for only $38.  They were selling similar wreaths for $160!!  No way man, I will always try to make it myself before shelling out that kind of dough.  It was simple to make, just pumpkins, leaves, burlap, and wheat.

Well this is the end of our tour.  We have this little scarecrow sign in the flower bed leading to our front door to welcome everyone.  I have really enjoyed decorating this year…and have a feeling the fall inspiration is not done yet.  I am have a few empty canvases and may just starting painting as soon as I finish typing.

Hope you have found some inspiration to decorate your own home.  Half of the decorations were inherited from Hannah, so big thanks to my sis.  If you are decorating on a budget, look for sale items after the season or at estate/garage sales.  You never know how you can repurpose someone’s old décor.

Hannah’s Fun Friday

Fun Friday

So it’s been awhile since I’ve posted a Fun Friday. I am loving my new town and living life! I haven’t done much crafting because I’ve been so busy just having fun. And I’m ok with that Smile

If you follow me on Instagram (hannahyoungandcrafty) then you may have seen some of these. Go follow along to see what I’m up to each week!

A couple of weekends ago Brittany and I took a trip home. This picture is out in my dads garden. He’s got a ton of muscadine vines (they are like grapes) that are beautiful and delicious!

One of my new friends, Bonnie, and I went on a road trip to New Braunfels, TX. While there, we had to visit the old little town of Gruene (pronounced green). We ate a delicious restaurant called Gristmill and went to the oldest dance hall in Texas!

Last but not least, it has been so much fun living in the same town as my sister again! We decided to go indoor rock climbing after work one day. It was a blast and a great workout!

Hope you all have a good week!

Flowers

I love flowers. I know, I know, they wither and die quickly. But they are so pretty for the week or so that they are sitting on my counter. I smile every time I see them. There is just nothing better than fresh flowers.

Bouqs box

The Bouqs Co. has beautiful flowers. What’s really cool about them is that they are grown on an active volcano. The flowers are clipped only when an order is placed. This definitely helps guarantee freshness and that your flowers will last a good long time.

They come bundled up really well. So well, that it took me a good 5 minutes to get the plastic cut!  They provide plant food to put in your vase to help your flowers last longer.

Bouqs flowers

Yellow is my absolute favorite color! And lilies are my favorite flower. This couldn’t have been more of a perfect combo! They are stunning. I love the vibrant color and they definitely made me smile when I looked at them. Who says you can’t get flowers to treat yourself?!

If you want to send flowers to someone, consider heading to The Bouqs Co. and check out what they have to offer! You will not be disappointed.

Fall Deco Mesh Wreath

Fall deco mesh wreath 2

I wish I could take credit for this super cute wreath but I can’t. My mom made it and she did a fabulous job.

Every two years we have a family reunion in Minnesota. In order to make money for food and things, everyone brings a craft. Tickets are .50 cents each and you put tickets in brown bags in hopes that your name is drawn. It really is so much fun and everybody brings such cool stuff! Long story short, mom made it for her craft for the reunion.

I think this wreath is perfect to transition from fall and all the way through Thanksgiving.

Sparkling Dishes with Finish

This shop has been compensated by #CollectiveBias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.

After moving and unpacking all of my dishes I noticed right away that they were dirty. They had been packed away in storage for over six months. Even though they were well wrapped, just something about them being packed away for that long made them dirty. I washed every single dish that I had. Unfortunately I used a cheap brand of detergent and still didn’t feel like they were 100% clean. I guess the saying, you get what you pay for, rings true!

There were so many Finish products that it was hard to choose! The dishwasher detergent tablets come in several different size packs which I really liked. The products were easy to find on the dishwashing detergent isle at Walmart. Walmart is also have a rollback on prices until October. Combine that with the $1 off coupon below to save even more money. You can’t beat that!

So I decided that I should re-wash everything. It was such a hassle but it needed to be done. I was super impressed with how well Finish products cleaned my dishes. None of that filmy stuff that sometimes is left on from using a cheap detergent. Not only were my dishes clean, but I now have a clean dishwasher! It’s sparkling!

That wine glass is so clean you can see right through it. I don’t think I will ever go back to any other type of dishwashing detergent. I also got the Booster that stays in your dishwasher for about a month. It really helps those dishes sparkle.
